Photodynamic therapy(PDT) has been known by more and more scientists since 1975 when Dougherty invented it. Nowadays it has become a hot point in the field of tumour diagnoses and therapy.The researches for photosensitizer are focused on porphyrin mates, plant chlorophyll as a kind of porphyrin mate is mainly a researching facet.The researches about bacterial chlorophyll as porphyrin mate have not reported. The characteristic absorption of bacterial chlorophyll locates in 350-400nm and 750-800nm, but in 400-700nm named visible light area bacterial chlorophyll have not the absorption. If the metal complexes of bacterial chlorophyll are used in tumour diagnoses and therapy (photo dynamical therapeutics), we can use the near infrared ray above 750nm as remedial light source. It will greatly increase penetrable ability of light ray in tissue, therefore it can directly be used in diagnoses and therapy. At the same time photosensitive reaction will be decreased after the therapy. Theoretically, metal bacterial chlorophyll has more superiority than metal plant chlorophyll in PDT field.The syntheses of transition metal (Cu,Zn,Co,Ni) and bacterial chlorophyll was investigated in this paper. Four complexes have been synthesitized through the reaction of metal and non-Mg bacterial chlorophyll in the organic solvent. The results also show the ultraviolet-visual spectrum and the fluorescence spectrum of these complexes.The modes and activities of the interaction of DNA and metal complexes of bacterial chlorophyll have been discussed according to the ultraviolet-visual spectrum and nucleic acid electrophoresis. It indicates that the interactions of DNA and metal complexes are strong and that metal complexes of bacteriochlorophyll have strong cutting effect to DNA in illumination.This paper reports the restraining activity of metal bacterial chlorophyll complexes to tumour cell also by MTT.
