With the progress of science, drug formulations and preparation research have been entering the era of DDS. The reaserch on DDS will assume an increasingly important role in the fields of chemical pharmaceutical and biotechnology or biotherapy in the future. Not only can adequated DDS increase the efficacy and reduce the side effects of drugs, but also improve patient compliance and the competition ability of products. This study presents which of the many emerging drug delivery systems have the better prospects and when and where they are likely to be used. Areas covered include oral sustained-controlled DDS, targeted DDS, transdermal DDS, nasal DDS and pulmonary DDS. The prospect of DDS makets seems to be optimistic, particularly in the markets of oral controlled DDS, pulmonary DDS and transdermal DDS.However, DDS R&D in our country is almost "follow-up ", and the application of novel DDS remains few. New drug R&D innovation has long been restricted by the deficition of funds. By applying drug delivery system, there is a potential to improve productivity as well as get an edge in highly competitive marketplaces. Using innovative drug delivery technology to extend the branded life cycle may be a lucrative way out of the cul-de-sac for the pharmaceutical industry, yet still reduces development and manufacturing time. Therefore, DDS reaserch can tackle the issue of preparation on lower-lever replication, which is of critical importance to the expected growth of pharmaceutical industry in our country. The present study analysis the history, current situation, and prospects of DDS, applying system analysis and intelligence study methods (classification, contrast, induction and document measurement etc.). The study forecasts the market for new technologies broken out by drug delivery type and technology platform. It also takes a look at the technical, market and regulatory barriers to implementing DDS, noting likely differences in DDS research and manufacture between our country and the major industrialized countries. Some suggestions about the tactic measures are made for the...
