Objective To evaluate the risk factors of Irbesartan in treatment of essential hypertension and to explore individualized antihypertensive treatment. The major influential factors of the current study included weight, body mass index (BMI), chest, waist , waist hip ratio (WHR) ,the quantity of vegetable taken in every week and the polymorphism of solute carrier family 9 (sodium/hydrogen exchanger), member 3. Methods In order to elucidate genetic and environ-mental influence on individualized response to antihypertensive ,from December 2002 to January 2004, a study on pharmacogenomics in essential hypertension was conducted in County A and Country B, Anhui, China. The current study is part of it. In total, 839 subjects (374 men,464 women) completed 28 days irbesartan treatment. Collection of clinical and epidemiological information was completed during treatment. Falls in systolic blood pressure(ASBP) and diastolic blood pressure (ADBP) were calculated as the difference before and after the treatment period, and we finished the check in polymorphism of SLC9A3 gene. We analyzed the data by methods of X~2 test, t test and analysis of variance. The risk factors of Irbesartan in treatment of hypertension were evaluated . Results ( 1 ) The risk factors of Irbesartan in treatment of essential hypertension actually correlated with age, chest, waist , abdomen circumference, heart rate, baseline blood pressure. Multiple linear regression analyses showed the risk factors were baseline blood pressure ,age.( 2 ) SLC9A3 can be described as solute carrier family 9 (sodium/hydrogen exchanger), member 3. It has three polymorphism in SLC9A3 gene including TT, CT, CC .The rate of allele of C is 51.0%, and T is 49.0%. The decreasing range of ABP between TT and...
