| Premature ovarian failure is a defuction of ovary disease which resulted by many reasons. In 1967 Demotes and Jone proposed the disease.In 1973, Goldenbery found POF patients had no ovum and he thought the ovum has already been exhausted. So POF has another name called Premature Menopause. The frequency of POF is about 1~3% and han increased in recently years. The main symptom of POF is characterized by amenorrhoea, oestrogen deficiency and elevated levels of gonadoerophins. The cause of POF is complicated and treatment is difficult. The research describe the etiology and development of treatment of POF from traditional Chinese medicine and mordern medicine.Yanlingdan is an effective dose summarized by tutor under the guidance of Chinese medicine theory and basing on clinical experience in many years. We have already verified through animal experiment that it can improve the aging state of the rats. We can also say that this research is an extended study of animal study experiment. We think the main etiology of POF is deficiency of kidney. We classified the 50 patients of POF into 3 groups. The control group is yanlingdan treat group, the west medicine treat group and liuweidihuangwan treat group.The result shows that Yanlingdan can obviously improve the patient s state in menstruation and lighten the symtom in menopause and regulate the hormone level. The effect of control guoup is superior to that of contrasting-groups.
