Treatment based on syndrome differentiation is the essence of TCM. The effective treatment depends on the accurate syndrome differentiation. However, the concept and diagnostic criteria of TCM syndrome are imprecise, vague and lack objectifying, standardization and strict mathematical statistics foundation which is influencing the further development of traditional Chinese medicine and the exchanging to the outside. Thus the objectifying research of TCM syndrome is becoming the emphasis of studying in TCM. The quantitative diagnosis is an important way for the standardization and objectifying of zheng-differentiation.Deficiency of kidney-energy syndrome in fetal irritability (threatened abortion) is one of the most common diseases in gynaecology and is also the preponderant illness for therapy in TCM. The thesis made researches into Deficiency of kidney-energy syndrome in fetal irritability (threatened abortion) combining the disease and syndrome. By the statistical ways, we investigated the fetal irritability patients 160 cases belonging to deficiency of kidney-energy syndrome and 166 cases non-deficiency of kidney-energy syndrome. A diagnosis chart was made by applying the method of the maximum likelihood discriminatory analysis. Thus the qualitative diagnosis was initially achieved.
