| Objectives:This study aimed to observe the expression of VEGF and VEGF receptors in two types of nasal polyp and nasal polyp diseases,which contribute to analyse their roles in pathogenesis of nasal polyps and to explore the correlation between the formation of nasal polyps and immunopathology.Methods:The expression of VEGF and VEGF receptors were detected in 10 tissues of normal nasal mucosa, 25 simples of mono-rhinopolypus,25 poly-rhinopolypus and 20 tissues of nasal poly disease with immunohistochemistry(SP method).Meanwhile,the results were contrasted and analysised.Results: In normal turbinate mucosa,positive immunostaining for VEGF was observed throughout the surface epithelium and in the epithelium of nasal glands.VEGFR1, VEGFR2 expression was faint in the healthy turbinate,only sporadic immunostaining was found in the endothelial cells of blood vessels. In tissues of mono-rhinopolypus , poly-rhinopolypus and nasal polyp disease,strong immunostaining for VEGF and VEGF receptors was found in all inflammatory cells.especially in eosinophils, infiltrating in stromas.Fibroblastes was also strained for VEGF.Straining for VEGF in the mucosal surface and in the glandular epithelium of nasal polyps was weaker than in that of the normal controls. The expression of VEGF and VEGF receptors in the group of normal control, mono-rhinopolypus, poly-rhinopolypus and nasal polyp disease tended to be significantly increased. In normal nasal mucosa, mono-rhinopolypus, poly-rhinopolypus, nasal polyp disease,the eosinophils counts was 1.10±0. 68, 5.56 ± 2.96, 22.85±15.11, 132.49±34.67. Conclusion:These findings may support an important role for VEGF and Its receptors, VEGFR1 , VEGFR2 in the development and perpetuation of edema and angiogenesis in nasal polyps.In nasal polyp disease, a lot of eosinophils that mainly express VEGF and Its receptors infiltrating in stroma may be the main cause that nasal polyp diseases are different from mono-rhinopolypus, poly-rhinopolypus. |
