BACKGROUND: It was reported that the full nucleotide sequences of 18 hepatitis B virus(HBV) strains clusterd into four genetic groups (A to D) with more than 8% divergence between the groups by Okamoto in 1988 .So far,A-H eight genotypes have been found by this type of criterion.Recently, the research of many scholars show that HBV genotypes have characteristics geographical distribution and may be related to clinical outcomes.OBJECTIVES:To get some knowledge of the distribution of HBV genotypes in Jiangsu area and to analyze the relationship between HBV genotypes and the seriousness of the disease , the titer of HBV DNA and the state of HBeAg. METHODS: 128 patients infected by HBV in Jiangsu province are analyzed[21 Asymptomatic carriers(ASC), 61 chronic hepatitis B(CHB),14 chronic severe hepatitis(CSH), 25 liver cirrhosis (LC) , 7 Hepatocarcinoma(HCC)].HBV genotypes were detected on the basis of the nucleotide sequence analysis of S region of the HBVgenome. The titer of HBV DNA was detected by fluorescence quantification polymerse chain rection(FQ-PCR) and HBV markers were detected by enzy-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Liver biopsy specimens from twenty-five CHB patients were studied. RESULTS: 1 .Only B, C and B/C mixed are found in my study of 128 HBV infected. The proportions of genotypes B, C and B/C mixed were 37.5%, 61.72%and 0.78% respectively. No other genotypes, such as A, D, E, F, G, H are found.2.The proportion of genotype C is higher in LC group than in ASC(75%vs66.67%) or in CHB group(75%vs57.38%).The result of comparing LC with ASC is: x~2=0.38, P>0.05; The result of comparing LC with CHB is: x~2=2.28, P>0.05.3.The titer of HBVDNA of...
