Objectives: To investigate the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection among Kunming Yi-ethnic children and explore immunogenetic features between human leukocyte antigen DQAI locus and Kunming Yi-ethnic children with H. pylori infection. Moreover, it provides the basic data for preventing and curing H. pylori infection. Methods: (l)Serum H. pylori-IgG antibodies of 154 Kunming Yi-ethnic children of 6 ~ 14 years were measured with Dot-immuogold filtration assay(DIGFA). (2) Polymerase chain reaction-sequence specific primer (PCR-SSP) method was used to study the HLA-DQAl allelic frequency distribution of 31 cases of Kunming Yi-ethnic children with H. pylori infection and 39 healthy controls of Kunming Yi-ethnic children without H. pylori infection by combined diagnosis with serum H. pylori-IgG antibodies and 13C -urea breath test (13C-UBT) .Results: (1) The prevalence of H. pylori infection among Kunming Yi-ethnic children were 38.31%. (2)The allelic frequencies of HLA-DQAl *0.302 was significantly lower in H. pylori infection group than those of in healthy control group (0 vs 12.82%, P=0.003, x2=8.56, Pc=0.042) . The allelic frequencies of HLA-DQAl *010201/0202 in H. pylori infection group was higher than those of healthy control group (14.52% vs 3.85% , x2=5.018, P=0.025) , but the significationdisappeared when the allelic Bonferroni correction for comparisons were applied as required (Pc=0.35).Conclusions: (l)The prevalence of H. pylori infection among Kunming Yi-ethnic children studied was higher. (2) And these results suggest that HLA-DQA1*0302 might have resistant to H. pylori infection in Kunming Yi-ethnic children. However, the effects of HLA-DQAI*010201/0202 should be studied further.
