Objective:To discover an effective way to enhance the strength and toughness of denture base resin by filling organic modified montmorillonite into the mono-MMA, using monomer intercalation free radical polymerization method, preparing PMMA/MMT denture base composite materials, testing some mechanical properties, comparing to the normal group, provide the reference and foundation for further study in denture base materials.Methods:1. Used monomer intercalation free radical polymerization method, and filled the organic modified montmorillonite into mono-MMA at different contents, in addition mixed it with PMMA powder, and then initiated polymerizing according to the preparation rule of clinic denture base in order to get the experimental group of PMMA/MMT denture base composite material.2. Mixed the mono-MMA which was not been added montmorillonite with PMMA powder, and then initiated polymerizing according to the preparation rule of clinic denture base in order to get the blank group.3. Tested the mechanical properties of the two groups, which including the flexure strength, flexure modulus of elasticity, impact strength, tensile strength, rigidity and antiwear, etc. What's more, the microstructrue of the two kinds of materials were analyzed by Olympus optic microscopy. Treated the experimental data with statistics, and evaluated the mechanical properties of the two different denture base materials, in addition, compared them with pertinent literatures.Results:1.
