Object: To study the improvement of the flexure strength of denture base by adding organo-montmorillonite (O-MMT) to it.Methods: Using situ intercalative polymerization, added O-MMT to MMA (w=2.64 %,3.89%,5.56%,6.92%) and finally prepared different concentrations of (PMMA/0-MMT) nanometer composite material. Analyzed and compared the flexure moduli and strengths of the denture base materials. Results: The result showed that the flexure moduli of the (PMMA/0-MMT) denture base material groups(w=2.64%,3.89%) were obviously improved compared with the ones of the normal group(p<0.05), but the flexure strengths were not obviously changed(p>0. 05). The flexure modulus and strength of the (PMMA/O-MMT) denture base material group(w=5.56%) were not improved distinctly compared with the ones of the normal group(p>0.05). The flexure strength of the (PMMA/0-MMT) denture base material group(w=6. 92%) was reduced (p<0. 05) while the modulus was not changed prominently (p>0. 05).Conclusion: The flexure modulus of the traditional denture base can be improved by adding the O-MMT to PMMA, which has no influence to flexure strength.
