OBJECTIVERecent years researchers at home and abroad have drawn the conclusion that left ventricle ( LV) function of patients with chronic cor pulmonale ( CCP) was damaged by using Doppler Echocardiography . Tei index is a new index comprehensively evaluating ventricle integral function including diastolic and systolic function. This study measured the isovolumic contraction time(ICT) , isovolu-mic relaxtion time(IRT) and ejection time(ET) of CCP group and normal contrast group. Late, tei index was calculated, relationship between Tei index and LV function index such as ejection fraction ( EF) ,the ratio( E/A) of transmitral peak velocity at early diastole ( E) to transmitral peak velocity at late diastole (A) etc. analyzed , explored if Tei index could evaluate LV function of CCP.METHODSThere were 30 subjects(19 males, 11 females;age51 -72 years,63. 8 ±6. 5 years) in normal contrast group. Case group of 40 patients were classified 2 groups according to pulmonary artery systolic pressure ( PASP ) gained by Doppler Echocardiography. Ⅰ group ( 30mmHg < PASP ≤ 50mmHg) : 26 patients, 15 males, 11 females, age 50 -75 years,62. 3 ± 10. 1 years;Ⅱ group (PASP≥80mmHg) :14 patients,9 males,5 females, age 55 - 70,67. 4 ± 8. 4 years.Instrucment;all data were gained by using Hewlett - Packed Sonos 2500 ultrasonic system with a 2.5MHz probe.LV systolic function indexs [ EF, stroke volume ( SV) , left ventricular internal dimension at end diastole (LVIDd) ,left ventricular internal dimension at end systole ( LVIDs) ] of normal contrast group and case group were measured by u-sing Doppler Echocardiography. cardiac output ( CO ) , cardiac index ( CI) and fractional shortening ( FS) were calculated. Placing the sample volume at the point between left ventricle inflow tract ( LVIT) and left ventricle outflow tract ( LVOT) , ET, ICT and IRT were measured by using Pulse Doppler Echocardiography in the apical 4(5)- chamber views. LV diastolic function indexs ( E, A, E/A) can also be gained by this method, tei index and E/A were calculated,Tei index =( ICT + IRT )/ET.STATISTICAL ANALYSIS: All data were presented as mean ± SD and analyzed by SPSS 10.0 software. P <0. 05 was remarkable meaning for the difference.RESULTSCompared with normal contrast group;A, IRT and tei index of I group increased ( P < 0. 05 ) , with E/A decreased ( P < 0. 05 ). A, IRT, ICT and Tei index ofIIgroupincreased(P<0.05) .with FS,EF,SV, CO,CI, E,E/A andEToffl group decreased ( P < 0. 05 ). Compared with I group, EF,SV, CO, CI,E, E/A and ET of II group decreased ( P <0. 05) ,with Tei index and ICT of II group increased ( P <0. 05). There was negative relationship between Tei index and EF, FS, SV, CO, CI,E/A , ET and E ( P < 0. 05 ). There was positive relationship between tei index and ICT,IRT and A( P <0. 05 ).CONCLUSIONCCP LV integral function was damaged, LV Tei index of CCP increased. There was negative relationship between Tei index and EF, E/A which were Doppler systolic and diastolic function index. Tei index could integratively evaluate LV function of CCP.
