Objective: Vertebral artery injury is a serous complication ofclosed spine trauma, formerly it's considered the incidence was lowand clinical symptoms were rarely to show up ,the study in recentyears show the complication is not few at all. 19%-24% of thepatients with closed cervical spine trauma were accompanied withvertebral artery injury and nearly 12% had clinical signs andsymptoms. The experiment investigates dependability betweenvertebra-basal artery ischemia syndrome and vertebral artery injuryas well as haplo-side or double-side , part, degree and clinicalmanifestation by statistical analysis on such patients in our countyand outside. Combining clinical observation to analyze and confirmthe statistical results about the records, so to elevate the personsvigilance to the clinical manifestation of such patients. We can earlydiscovery and treat the serious complication so to sublime patientsrecovery rate.Method: Consult literature report of closed cervical spinetrauma complicated with vertebral artery injuries to statisticalanalysis.187 patients with closed cervical spine trauma wereobserved continually and clinical manifestation were detailedreported. They had normal MRA ,then to statistical analysis.Result: There are 2517 patients with closed cervical spinetrauma in the records,20.42% of them complicating with vertebralartery injuries. Clinical symptoms appeared in 28.92% of the patientswith hibateral injuries, 9.04%of the patients with half injury. 38.98%of the patients involing Intracal or arteriae cerebelli inferior posteriorinjuries have obviously clinical manifestation, 4.29% is limited inextraskull. Probability of the appearance of clinical manifestation is82.22%,22.58% and 1.33% partly for major injury, midrange injuryand Minor injury 。There are 39 patients of the 187 patients withclosed cervical spine trauma in clinical observation, 5 example withclinical manifestation, 2 example are half ,3 example are double sides;2 example are extraskull, 3 example are Intracal;1case is minor ,2cases are midrange and 2 cases are major.Conclusion:1. Vertebra-arteria basilaris ischemia syndromefollowing closed cervical spine trauma is obviously related withvertebral artery injury.2.The rate of the occurrence of double-side vertebral arteryinjury, the injury extending to intracalvarium or arteriae cerebelliinferior posterior, and serious vertebral artery injury is higher.3. The patients with the signs of vertebra-arteria basilarisischemia followed closed cervical spine trauma have the possibilityof vertebral artery injury. We should enhance vigilance and earlyfinal diagnosis, early treat.
