Objective:To investigate the expression of SMP-30 mRNA in the normal liver tissues, HCC and corresponding adjacent tissues, and the possible relationship between the expression of SMP-30 mRNA and the occurrence of HCC.Methods: Expression level of SMP-30 mRNA was detected with in situ hybridization (ISH) in normal liver tissues, HCC tissues and corresponding adjacent tissues from 7 normal people,40 HCC patients and 40 samples of HCC adjacent tissues. Correlation between the expression of SMP-30 and the clinical data was evaluated.Results:Of 7 normal hepatic tissues ,SMP-30mRNA was detectable in all samples, positive materials were diffused in the cytoplasm of the hepatic cells and the shape of the cells were clear; Of 40 HCC tissues, non was detectable; 40 samples of HCC corresponding adjacent tissues expressed SMP-30 mRNA, positive materials were also diffused in the cytoplasm of the hepatic cells. In HCC corresponding adjacent tissues, expression of SMP-30 mRNA was related with the size of tumor,the form of fibrous capsule and the age(P<0.05).Conclusions: Expression of SMP-30 mRNA restricted in the cytoplasm of cells was detectable in the normal hepatic tissues and HCC corresponding adjacent tissues. In corresponding adjacent tissues, SMP-30 mRNA expression was decreased with the aging,what's more, there was statistically difference between its expression and the size of tumor,the form of fibrous capsules(P<0.05).
