Objective:To investigate the expression, the clinical significance and the relationship among two tumor suppressor genes, FHIT and p27, and two oncogenes, c-myc and Ki-67 in oral squamous cell carcinomas(OSCC).Method:The 42 cases of OSCC and 1 case of mammary carcinoma and 11 cases of oral normal tissue samples were examined by PV-9000 immunohistochemical two-step analysis. All these patients hadn't accept chemotherapy, radiotherapy and biologic therapy before operation.Result:The expression of FHIT, p27, c-myc and Ki-67 was detected in a significantly difference between 42 cases in OSCC samples and in 11 cases of normal tissues (p<0.01). The positive rates of the expression of FHIT, p27, c-myc and Ki-67 in oral normal tissues were 100%,90.91%,18.18%,18.18%, and in OSCC were 47.62%,42.86%,64.29%,69.05%. According to pathology, classification significant difference was found in the values of p27 and Ki-67 expression(p<0.05), while no difference was found in the values of FHIT and c-myc expression(p>0.05). FHIT expression has no relationship but p27, c-myc and Ki-67 expression has relationship in patients displaying lymph node metastasis with those without the lymph metastasis. The expression of these four genes was not associated with age, sex and position of the carcinoma(p>0.05). In OSCC the expression of FHIT was not correlated with the expression of p27, c-myc and Ki-67 (p>0.05). A significant statistical relationship was found among the expressions of p27,c-myc and Ki-67(p<0.05).Conclusion:1 The expression of FHIT, p27, c-myc and Ki-67 is detected in a significantly difference between OSCC samples and normal tissues. But the difference is not associated with age, sex and position of the carcinoma.2 According to pathology, there is a classification significant difference in p27 and Ki-67 expression, while no difference in FHIT and c-myc expression. FHIT expression has no relationship but p27, c-myc and Ki-67 expression has relationship in patients displaying lymph node metastasis with those without the lymph metastasis.
