Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of circadianclock gene Per1in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC).Methods: The expression of Per1in38cases of buccal squamous cellcarcinoma and the adjacent non-tumor tissues were examed byimmunohistochemical SP method and Western blot method and thesignificances of Per1were studied combined with the clinicopathologicalparameters. Results: The expression of Per1were significantly decreased in buccalsquamous cell carcinoma tissues than in adjacent non-tumortissues(P=0.025).In buccal squamous cell carcinoma, the expression of Per1were significantly higher in stage I-II period and T1,T2grade than in stageIII-IV period and T3,T4grade (P=0.007)(P=0.030),meanwhile theexpressions of Per1were significantly higher in group without lymph nodemetastasis than in group with lymph node metastasis(P=0.008).Theexpression of Per1was in no correlation with patients’ gender, age andpathological grade(P>0.05). Conclusion: The expression of Per1may play an important role in thedevelopment, invasion and metastasis of patients with OSCC, and mayprovide a new way of thinking for OSCC diagnosis, prognosis assessmentand treatment.
