ObjectiveMetastasis is the leading cause of treatment failure and death of ovarian carcinoma. However, the mechanisms associated with metastatic ability in ovarian carcinoma are poorly understood. Recent studies have shown that angiogenesis plays a critical role in the invasion and metastasis of epithelial ovarian carcinoma. Of all the angiogenic factors, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is the most important and multifunctional cytokine to date. VEGF combines with its receptors on vascular endothelial cells. On the one hand it induces endothelial cell proliferation and promotes cell migration, on the other hand VEGF can increase the permeability of vessels and degrade the basal membrane of new vessels. Therefore, VEGF plays an important role in tumor invasion and metastasis. With the development of the theory and technology of molecular biology, the molecular mechanisms associated with tumor metastasis are more and more clear. Nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-κB) is an important and pleiotropic transcription factor composed of complex system that regulates the transcription of a many genes. The studies associated with NF-κB mostly focus on its functions in immune and...
