Objective: To determine whether the safety and effect of HIFU was acted on rabbit's brain by observing pathological changes at the targeted region and its vicinity in normal New Zealand Rabbit' s brain tissue after ablation and further getting some idea about the characterizations of images monitored by real—time Ultrasound and the living status of rabbits.Material and Methods: The model-JC high intensity focusedultrasound tumor therapeutic system was used . First , according to the therapeutic acoustic power , forty—eight New Zealand Rabbits were divided into two groups (A , B) randomly and each group was further divided into six subgroups (1s, 3s, 5s, 7s, 9s and 11s). Then the two groups of rabbits were irradiated with different acoustic powers (50W, 100W)and each subgroup was under different exposure time (1s, 3s, 5s, 7s, 9s and 11s). Gathering the preoperative and postoperative ( immediate, 15s, 30s, 60s, 150s, 300s) gray-scale images of targeted regions on ultrasonogram in order to measure and analyze the grayscales and the areas of targeted-regions on ultrasonograms . After that, the rabbits were bred for one week and their reactions and living status were paid attention to .Then all the rabbits 'brains were removed to observe the biological characterizations of the gross changes and the histology of the irradiated regions . At the same time , the longest diameter of the irradiated region was measured . Finally , the sonicated regions were examined with light microscopy and electron microscopy. Results: 1. The echogenicity of targeted region was very high...
