Clinical application of stent was restricted because of its restenosis. Though the research works concern to radioactive stent, drug-eluting stent, and degradable polymer stent have got some achievements, such questions as security, drug resource, price, and long-term impact are still need to be considered. In our present work, the interaction between the cells and metal ions is used to restrain the restenosis of stents, in order to reduce the cost of drug-eluting stent. Titanium dioxide is regarded as a material with a good blood compatibility, and silver exhibits excellent biocidal action against bacteria. Therefore, silver was implanted into titanium dioxide films with the hope of obtaining an artificial surface with both good hemocompatibility and anti-hyperplasia property. In order to study the influence of Ag content on the proliferation behavior of cells, a series of TiO2 films with the same crystalline structure and phases but different Ag concentration were expected. Therefore, different doses of Ag+ were implanted into titanium dioxide films that synthesized by Reactive Magnetron Sputtering method. The physical and chemical prosperities, such as the composition, microstructure, surface morphology and surface energy were investigated and discussed by means of X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscope (HRTEM), Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES), and Atomic Force Microscope (AFM).The influences of Ag+ doping dose on the structure and chemical composition of titanium dioxide films were studied. The results show that the dominative phase in titanium dioxide films is poly-crystallined Rutile TiO2 with (110) preferred orientation before Ag implantation. After Ag implantation, the microstructure of TiO2 has no significant modification . The doped Ag exists in the film as polycrystalline-Ag, and nano Ag particles can be found with the size ranged from several nanometers to decades nanometers. The depth profile distribution of Ag is nearly Gauss distribution, and its peak moved to the surface of the film with the increase of Ag doping dose. The influences of Ag+ doping dose on the surface morphology and surface energy of titanium dioxide films were studied. After Ag implantation, rough surface with bulky islands are observed instead of originally flat and dense surface, and the...
