OBJECTIVE To investigate changes of plasma urotensin Ⅱ(UⅡ) levels in patients with essential hypertension(EH), unstable angina (UA), acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and UA combined EH(UE), and the correlation of UII and AGE, GENDER, BMI, TG, TC, to study the probably pathophysiological roles of UII in these diseases .MOTHODS Peripheral venous blood was collected in EDTA from normal healthy controls and patients , the blood was then centrifuged and plasma was collected , UⅡ levels in plasmas were measured by radioimmuneoassay, and both of plasma TC and TG were determined by enzymatic methods.RESULT the mean plasma UII level in healthy controls was 5.52 ±0. 93pg/ml. In patients with EH, UA, AMI (in 6 hours after myocardial infarction)and UE , the mean plasma UII level were 3.50±1.06pg /ml, 3. 86±1.68pg/ml, 2.43±0.98pg/ml, 2. 67±0. 85pg/ml, respectively, which were significantly lower than that in control group (p<0.01). Furthermore, there were significant differences between patients with AMI and UA(p<0.01).There were no significant differences between EH 2 grade and EH 3 grade in EH group(p>0. 05). Plasma UⅡ level was not associated with CHO, TG, BMI, AGE, GENDER(r=-0.249, -0.162, -0.219, -0. 116, -0. 083, respectively, p>0. 05).CONCLUSION The plasma UⅡ in patients with EH, UA, AMI were decreased significantly and this suggests that UII might participate in the pathophysiological processes of the diseases. There were...
