Objective: To investigate the expression of NP-1 and Sema3A in dorsal spinal cord and the NP-1 expression in spared dorsal root ganglion and dorsal spinal cord following acupuncture. Methods: Twenty male adult cats were divided into four groups. Ten cats were subjected to unilateral root rhizotomy (unilateral L1-L5 dorsal roots were transected, but L6 was spared), and were sacrificed on the 7th day or 14th day after operation. Ten cats were subjected to unilateral root rhizotomy and acupuncture (electron-needle stimulation was performed in Zusanli, Xuanzhong, Futu and Sanyinjiao which are located in the distribution area of L6 spinal nerve) for 30min a day and were sacrificed on the 7th or 14th day. The L6 DRGs from the experimental side were taken and made into frozen sections 20 μm in thickness and the sections were stained with specific NP-1 antibody by immunohistochemistry ABC method. The L3, L5 and L6 spinal...
