Clinical And Experimental Observation Of Anti-fungal Granule's Function To Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidosis (RVVC)

Candida belongs to Kingdom fungi, Deuteromycotina, Gemmamycetes, Cryptococcacear. There are about 300 diverse kinds including its varieties, but only a few are pathogenic to human being. Candida Albicans is the most common and strongest among them.Nowadays, VVC is much more common. At least 75% of women in childbearing age have suffered from VVC at least once in statistics, and 40%-50% twice, meanwhile 5% of VVC in adult women are RVVC, which effect women' s life quality severely. The cause of VVC, especially RVVC, is complicated, and the external cause is related to the development of pathogen, variation of strains-substrains drift and drug tolerance;the internal cause is related to the host' s endocrine, spirit, metabolic disturbance, diet and immunologic deficiency. Immunologic deficiency has been emphasized on increasingly as the cause of RVVC. RVVC is partly due to vulvovaginal cell immunologic deficiency. People such as AIDS patients who have T lymph cell function deficiency are susceptible to RVVC. There is no ideal regimen for VVC. Many antifungal Western Medicines are adapted for treatment, the short-term effects of which are satisfactory. However, the long term effects and RVVC treatment are not. Because Candida strains who have antifungal tolerance have been increasing steadily. It has also become increasingly difficult to control and treat VVC, especially RVVC. It is said that taking advantage of medicine to develop the body' s immunity could benefit both long and short-term resistance to the disease. However, for their high price and rarity they are not commonly used.Although there are an increasing number of new antifungals available, the morbidity and mortality due to invasive mycoses remain high. The high rates of polyene toxicities and the development of Azole concerns regarding antagonism between such agents.For clinical observation, we adapt prospective random control method to research the treating function of Traditional Chinese Drug (Anti-fungal granule) combined with Xiang Lian Topical Lotion external used systematically. The total efficiency is 85% (P<0. 05). Moreover, the main symptoms are improved apparently (P<0.05) comparing to the control team. The result shows this TCM drug is effective to RVVC when taken orally, and the efficiency is even better with external use. It' s a good oral TCM drug for RVVC.For lab experiment, we observe the anti-fungal function of TCM Anti-fungal granule to the systemic Candida albicans infection in neutropenic mice. The data from the survival neutropenic mice with C. albicans and concentration of Candida in the kidneys of neutropenic mice show that TCM Anti-fungal granule can prolong the survival time of the systemic Candida albicans infected neutropenic mice, lower their total death rate and cumulative death rate, also can lower their concentration of Candida in the kidney. So TCM Anti-fungal granule oral taken have effectiveness to the systemic Candida albicans infected neutropenic mice. So far, the reports on oral drug for both RVVC inhibition and body immune system improvement are not very much. Clinical TCM remedy is also lack of. Our study makes new exploration on this aspect and acquires initial achievement. Our accomplishment also provides lab evidence, new methods and ideas on further research on oral TCM for RVVC.
