Objective: In order to explore new parameters which would correlate much better with clinical classification and be more instructive in clinical practice, parameters of tissue velocity imaging (TVI) and strain rate imaging (SRI) were compared with those of conventional methods in functional evaluation of left ventricle (LV) in patients with chronic congestive heart failure (CHF).Methods:1 The study population consisted of 48 patients with chronic CHF (patient group, male 31 and female 17 with a mean age of 56.5±16.3 years) and 43 age- and gender- matched normal volunteers (control group, male 25 and female 18 with a mean age of 37.8±15.1 years). The CHF patients were divided into three groups according to NYHA cardiac functional classification. Group A consisted of 18 patients in classⅡwith a mean age of 46.3±8.7 years; group B consisted of 19 patients in classⅢwith a mean age of 66.5±7.5 years; group C consisted of 11 patients in classⅣwith a mean age of 48.6±14.2 years.2 A color Doppler ultrasonic system (GE Vivid 7) and...
