BackgroundMesenchymal stem cell (MSC) possesses the capabilities of self-renewing and multiple differentiation, and can be in vitro induced to differentiate into osteoblasts , chondroblasts ,adipocytes,tendon cells,liver cells and even neuron-like cells in certain microenvironments. Due to MSC is easy to isolate to culture and amplification in vitro, it becomes the optimal seed cells in the tissue engineering. In the orthopedic domain, it is applied to bone formation, bone repaired, cartilage repaired, tendon and ligament repaired and complex tissue repaired. MSC resides in bone marrow,adipose tissue,cartilage and bone tissue,cord blood and placenta etc. Among of them, the bone marrow contents of the most abundant MSC. There still exists dispute whether the peripheral blood contains the MSC.
