The DON exists in grain cereal crops such as the wheat, barley, andmaize extensively, in more than 20 countries and regions such as Americaand Europe and other places, the DON is the main trichothecenes existing ingrain such as wheat and maize. Because of the higher contamination rateworldwide, it was considered as one of the main natural toxin to exist in thewheat of red mildew at present. Because of being produced in the growthperiod of crops, DON is considered as one of the main pathogeny that cropshave disease coming on. The crops that was contaminated is not only reduceoutput and drop quality, but also may cause mankind disease of poisoningthrough ingesting, and often act on the human body with other mould toxintogether and threaten the human health seriously. So, DON have alreadyaroused great concern from people in recent years. But, as a great country of grain cereal imports and exports andconsumeption, due of the competence of control works to fungi toxin havingdispartity with the advanced countries in no matter legislate or enforces thelawed to work, have not carried on the contaminat surveys of DON in thenationwide grain yet so far, So is still unable to make the standard with alimit on quantity of the DON in the food which accord with the real currentsituation of our country. The results may influence the grain trade with othercountries, and cause potential threat to that the people of our country arehealthy. The project planning of this research is that take the maize reaped fromfive main producing regions of maize of our country such as Northeast China(JiLin), North China (HeNan), Central China (HuBei), South China(GuangDong), Southwest China (SiChuan, GuangXi) in 2005 for the researchobject, and find out tentatively the contamination reality of DON in the maizein our country.accordingly, Fill the gap of contamination monitoring of DONin the maize in our country, and, the results of research can not only offer thesupport of the data for formulation of the standard with a limit on quantity ofthe DON hygiene in the maize of our country,offer the theoretical foundationfor prevention and contral of the contamination of DON in maize fromproducing area in the whole china,but also offer the technical assistance forthe fact that the policy of foreign grain trade of our country is made at thesame time.In this investigation, we are trying to set up a set of advanced gaseousphase chromatograms detection methods with relatively complete system, inorder to remedy the deficiency on the detection method of the DON in thegrain cereal crops in our country, and to meet our country carry on the needthat the data are exchanged each other of the grain trade in the world. Theinvestigation of contamination status of DON in maize have been donestatistical analysis through distributing among the areas separately, varietydifference of the maize, appearance property, threshing method of maize,store way, climatic conditions in the planting period of maize, and pesticideappling situation, etc.The investigation result reveals: The contamination status of DON inmaize from six provinces in our country in 2005 take on a trend with greatcontamination rate and low levels of contamination, there is a bit highcontent of DON in HeNan Province and SiChuan Province maize, but noobvious difference in the other provinces. The contamination degree of DONin mouldy maize is serious prominently than in normal maize. The DONcontent in maize threshed using machine is higher than threshed by handcraft.The DON content in maize storing in granary is higher than in other storageways.and at time when the maize is panted, climatic conditions and the use ofpesticide obviously influences the degree of contamination of the DON,which brief on a moist external environment suitable for reproduction andmetabolize of fungi, favorable to the contamination of DON in maize.
