Objective: to investigate the imaging characteristics of the negative- and positive-metastasized lymph node and the pathologic characteristics of positive-metastasized lymph node of gastric carcinoma using multi-slice CT with triphasic contrast enhancement.Materials and methods:a total 15 patients (11 men and 4 women; median age 58.8 years)with gastric carcinoma diagnosed by gastroscopy and proved by pathology were enrolled in our study. Helical CT was performed using a multi-slice CT scanner (PHILIP Brilliance 16-slice MSCT). All the scans were performed with dynamic triphasic contrast enhancement technique, and contrast-enhanced CT scans were obtained 21~25s(arterial phase), 60~65s(venous phase), 3~4min(delayed phase) after the initiation of the contrast medium injection respectively. In CT images, lymph node localization diagnosis was performed with group separation method, which is based on the position of blood vessels and visceral organs. Finally the results of MSCT were compared with that under pathology, in addition, the characteristics of lymph node in CT image were analyzed. The operation and post-process of the specimen were performed according to the principles of JRSGC(Japanese Research Society for Gastric Cancer). The lymph nodes taken from the lymphadenectomy were fixed in 10 % formaldehyde, stained with HE and investigated under the optic microscope. Statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS 11.5 software, and P<0.05 was regarded as having statistical significance.
