Objective Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy(ICP) is a complication of pregnancy that mainly does harm to fetus, and even sometimes causes the fetal death. The mechanism through what can this disease cause the fetal distress is still unknown. Hypoxia-inducible factor-1alpha(Hif-1α) is a factor that plays a key role in the organs and cells response to the hypoxia environment. So, we investigated the expression of Hif-1αin placenta and it's role in the mechanism of fetal asphyxia with Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP).Methods The expression of Hif-1αin 18 placentas from pregnancy women with ICP(7 severe ICP and 11 light ICP) and 18 placentas from normal pregnancy was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results The expression level of Hif-1αin ICP group was significant higher than that in control group(p<0.05),furthermore, it had a positive correlation with the ICP level.(r=0.048, p<0.01).Conclusions It does exist that ICP can induce fetal-placenta system chronic anoxia. As the maternal serum TBA higher than 40nmol/L ,this anoxia...
