ObjectiveThe present study was undertaken to investigate the change of 11β-Hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase Type 1 (11β-HSD-1) in rats with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and to determine the influence of rosiglitazone or glycyrrhetic acid on the expression of 11β-HSD-1.MethodsThe adault female SD rats were divided into four groups randomLy: control group, model group, rosiglitazone-treated group, glycyrrhetic acid-treated group. After 22 days of treatment, animals were sacrificed . The levels of fasting blood glucose( FBG), serum fasting insulin(FINS), testosterone(T), cholesterol(CH), triacyglycerol (TG) and HOMA-IR index were detected. The ovaries were excised for histological study. 11β-HSD-1 protein expression in the ovaries was measured by immunohistochemistry and 11β-HSD-1 protein expression in liver and visceral adipose tissue was measured by Western blotting analysis.Results(1) Contrast to normal rats, the levels of FINS, T, TG and HOMA-IR index of PCOS rats were increased. The protein expressions of...
