Objective To investigate the changes of fasting plasma resistin and its significance in the patients with diabetic microangiopathy and type 2 diabetic patients without complications. And to investigate the changes of fasting plasma resistin in use of insulin. Methods ELISA was used to examine fasting plasma resistin and fasting true insulin in 60 diabetic microangiopathy patients,20 type 2 diabetic patients without complications and 26 age-matched healthy controls.Fasting plasma glucose(FPG),2 hours plasma glucose(2hPG),blood pressure, height, weight were measured.Body mass index(BMI),homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR) and homeostasis model assessment of beta-cell action(HOMA-β) were calculated. After 25 patients were treated with insulin, their levels of resistin were measured.Result (1).In diabetic groups, course of diseases, SBP, DBP, FPG, 2hPG, HOMA-IR,HOMA-βwere significant different compared with that in normal controls(all P<0.01),respectively. There were no significant difference of age, systolic blood pressure(SBP) , diastolic blood pressure(DBP) , total cholesterol(TC) , triglyride(TG), FPG,2hPG,fast ingtrue insulin (FTI),HOMA-IR,HOMA-βin diabetic groups(P>0.05)(2)Fasting plasma resistin concentrations were significantly higher in type 2 diabetic patients as compared with normal individuals(all P<0.01),respectively.The plasma concentrations of resistin were not statistically different in the patients with diabetic microangiopathy compared with the type 2 diabetic patients without complications(P>0.05).(3)After treatment with insulin for one week, fasting plasma resistin concentrations were significantly lower than before(13.19±5.17 vs. 5.85±4.20 ng/ml;P<0.001).(4)Bivariate correlation analysis showed plasma resistin concentrations were significantly positively correlated with FPG, 2hPG, HOMA-IR (P<0.01), and negatively correlated with HOMA-β(P=0.001).Plasma resistin levels were not correlated with age, course of diseases,BMI,SBP,DBP or FTI.Partial...
