Objectiv: The purpose of this study was to investigate the method of extracting Radix Isatidis and the effects on the cytokine in serum of rats with influenzavirus pneumonia. Methods: 96 rats of kunming species were randomly divided into the control, model, Radix Isatidis and BDZ groups. Rats of viral pneumonia model were replicated by dropping nose with influenzavirus(50ul).Control-animals were dropped nose with physiological saline (50ul). Everyday, Radix Isatidis group was injected the extraction of Radix Isatidis through abdominal cavity. BDZ group was injected BDZ. Control and model groups were injected physiological saline. After seven days,rats were killed by exsanguinateing with enucleation. The serum was separated. Interleukin-2(IL-2), tumor necrosis factor- α (TNF-α ) and interferon- γ (IFN- γ) in plasma were assayed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Results: Compared with control group , TNF-α of the model group increased obviously (P<0.01); IFN- Y of the model group decreased greatly (p<0.01); IL-2 of the model group decreased, but there was no obvious difference (p>0.05). The result showed that virus could cause the immune state change evidently. After treating with the extraction of Radix Isatidis, TNF-α decreased obviously (p<0.01); IFN-γ increased greatly (p<0.01); IL-2 increased greatly (p<0.01) compared with the model group. Conclusion: The extraction of Radix Isatidis could enhance cellular immunity function by heightening IFN- Y and IL-2 in serum and relieve immunity pathological lesion by restraining TNF-α .
