Objective: To evaluate the short-term efficacy of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and compare the efficacy of holmium laser with transurethral electrovaporization resection of the prostate (TURP).Method: A total of 129 patients who were diagnosed with BPH from December 2003 to August 2005 in QiLu Hospital were divided into two groups randomly, of them 108 cases underwent HoLEP and 121 cases for TURP. The significant markers and therapeutic results were recorded and analyzed, which includes such as Qmax, Pdet/Qmax, IPSS, QOL and at the third month postoperatively. Sex function include sexual life(libito,corporation of sexual partner, sexual activity),erectile function(international index of erectile function LIEF-5), ejaculatory function(retrograde ejaculation,painess of ejaculatory,volume of ejaculation),before and 6 monthes after surgical therapy.The sex function follow-up were performed by telephone.
