MethodsBetween January 1998 and June 2005, all new ESRD patients who received maintenance peritoneal dialysis (PD) in our hospital were recruited. Patients' demographic characteristics, duration of dialysis till March 2006, date and cause of dropout, causes of death, PD prescription, medications, and medical conditions were recorded. Data before and after PD including SCr, BUN, blood routine, blood biochemistry, AST, ALT, Alb, Ca, P, SF, iPTH were collected. Results1. A total of 89 patients were included in this study, and 30 patients had the information we needed.2. One-year survival rate of our patients is 83.0%, two-year and five-year survival rate is 68.0% and 48.0% respectively.3. The symptoms and life quality were significantly improved after PD.4. All of the patients' residual renal function at the initiation of PD were below 15 ml/min, and 56.7% were between 5 ml/min and 10 ml/min, 26.7% were less than 5 ml/min.5. 66.7% patients have 6~8 L dialysate exchanged per day, both solute and water clearance were properly.
