Objective : This study was designed to evaluate the directive effect of Three-dimensional computed tomography(3DCT) in the surgery of developmental dislocation of the hip(DDH ) and to provide a reasonable basis of the examination for clinic by analyzing 3DCT findings of the DDH .Materials and methods:During the past two and a half years(2002.12-2005.6),46 untreated patients(7 boys and 39 girls;age range, from 1.5 years to 14 years;mean age,3.5 years)diagnosed DDH were examined using 3DCT. These patients include unilateral hip dislocation 21,bilateral hip dislocation 25,normal enfant 5 with 10 hips.in total normal hip 31,dislocated hip 71. The patients were examined with spiral CT(Aquilion/Multi, Toshiba Co.).The 3D pictures were taken and the relevant measurements were made in terms of SSD,MPR on an independent computer workstation. Results:The 3D reconstruction techniques were successfully used to show femoral head, acetabulum and the relationship between acetabulum and femoral head respectively. The technique of MPR was also used to measure the acetabular index(AI) and femoral neck anteversion(FNA). Observing results of 3DCT shows that the lack of acetabulum from typeâ…¡toâ…£like a channel, especially in typeâ…¢. The surface of ossification center of femoral head was accidented and inequable in thickness as compared with opposite side. Some diminished significantly as compared with opposite side.Measuring results of 3DCT revealed that AI was increased significantly(p<0.05) as compared with normal group.FNA was also increased significantly(p<0.05) as compared with normal group. Conclusions:The 3D reconstruction techniques can intuitionistic reveal the change of structure and shape of femoral head and acetabulum. We can get accurate...
