Objective To study the protective effect of edaravone on intestinal ischemia-reperfusion in rats, and offer the experiment basis for expanding its new clinical usage. Methods 40 male Wistar rats weighing 260~300g were selected for experiment (offered by the center of experimental animal of Shantou University Medical College ). The rats were raised in the standard room, feed regularly, changed water container and pad in time. The rats were used for experiment after 7 days. The animals were divided into four groups at random: (1)sham operation group(A group, n=10): Just separated the superior mesenteric artery and did not clamp it; (2)ischemia-reperfusion and normal sodium(B group, n=10): Separated and clamped the superior mesenteric artery for 30 minutes followed by 1 hour of reperfusion, 0.5mL normal sodium was administered via caudal vein at 5 minutes before reperfusion was achieved by removal of the clamp; (3)ischemia-reperfusion and vitamin C group(C group, n=10): Separated and clamped the superior mesenteric artery for 30 minutes followed by 1 hour of reperfusion, vitamin C(180mg/kg) was administered via caudal vein at 5 minutes before reperfusion was achieved by removal of the clamp; (4)ischemia-reperfusion and edaravone group( D group, n=10): Separated and clamped the superior mesenteric artery for 30 minutes followed by 1 hour of reperfusion, edaravone(3mg/kg) was administered via caudal vein at 5 minutes before reperfusion was achieved by removal of the clamp. All the animals were to fast for 24 hours. They were anesthetized with 3% Pentobarbital Sodium (30mg/kg) , then by median abdominal incision, separated and clamped the superior...
