Objective To study the relationship between the production of aqueous humor and the tissue-specific expression of AQP1 and AQP4. And also study the effects of dexamethasone (Dex) on the expression of aquaporin-1(AQP1) and aquaporin-4(AQP4) in rabbit non-pigmented epithelium of ciliary body (NPCE) and trabecular meshwork(TM) cells, thereby to probe into the pathogenesis of glucocorticoid induced glaucoma.Material and Methods To construct rabbit glucocorticoid induced glaucoma model by using 1% DEX solution eyedrops and then contrast the differences of expression of AQP-1 and 4 in NPCE and TM with normal controls by using immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence methods, as well as Western blot method. And analyze the effects of dexamethasone on the AQPs'expression level and the correlation to the intraocular pressure.Results AQP1 was found in trabecular meshwork cells, and the non-pigmented epithelium of ciliary body, and the endothelium of cornea...
