Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) infects the patient mainly by filthy sexual behavior and lurks in his sacral gangliacan. Thus, HSV-2 always attacks the genitalia or the anus and results in genital herpes (GH). Incidence of the disease is in the third place among sexually transmitted disease (STD) of our country, which is only in a lower place than condyloma acuminatum and nongonococcal urethritis. GH is characterized by latent infection, recurrence, and asymptomatic expulsion of HSV-2. Especially in the female cervical carcinoma is closely associated with HSV-2. One uptodate study shows that there is a synergistic action between HSV-2 and HIV-1 infection. HSV-2 infection is definitely diagnosed by laboratory method and effectively treated by early antiviral therapy. Therefore, there is an urgent need for an early, rapid, sensitive and specific method detecting HSV-2, which is of real significance in diagnosis and therapy of HSV-2 infection (especially in early infection of pregnant woman and blood donor), prenatal and postnatal care and preventing transmitting of HSV-2.
