Objective:To study the relative reasons which cause Chinese adolescentand children sensorineural deafness, except family history, noise exposeand virus infections. Methods:In all,44 children and adolescent with sensorineural hearingloss ,without obvious family history, noise expose and virusinfections, were screened for connexin26 by polymerase chainreaction(PCR). The amplicons were then sequenced in single diretion andanalyzed for mutation. Audiometric testing, including pure-toneaudiometry and auditory evoked brainstem response (ABR) was also performedto determine the degree of hearing loss. CT and MRI must be used to excludemiddle-ear abnormal. Results:Left ears in male are more than the others in single earsensorineural deaf ness (p=0. 037). The 235delC mutation can only be found5 cases in 18 both ear prelingural deafness. 26 postlingual deafnessdoesn' t exist connexin26 mutation. As for pure-tone audiometry, thesuffers can be divided into 2 groups: residual hearing type andnon-residural hearing type. The residual hearing exist in low frequency70. 5 ± 5. 5db. There are a distance exist between air-conduction hearingthreshold and bone-condution threshold in some residural hearing type, which can divided the first type into2 subtype: air-conduction hearing threshold decrease and air-condutionstatic.Conclusions: The 235delC mutation often happen on prelingual deafness. The...
