Objectives: Observing the growth of 0~3 year-old children born small for gestational age(SGA) and the levels of fasting glucose, insulin and adiponectin, to investigate the relationship between adiponectin and insulin resistance in SGA.Methods: A group of 46 children born small for gestational age and 31 children born appropriate for gestational age at the same age were assigned to an experimental group and a control group respectively. The concertration of serum adiponectin was detected with ELISA in both groups. Anthropometric indicators were measured at the same time. Statistic methods of t test, X~2 test and pearson correlation test were used to analyze the results.
