Objective To discuss the quantitative detection of CEAmRNA for diagnostic therapeutic and prognostic significance by analysing clinicopathological correlation of expression of CEAmRNA in the peripheral blood and non - small cell lung cancer.Methods Using carcinoembryonic antigen mRNA(CEAmRNA) as a target gene,CEAmRNA had been examined by reverse real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction in pretherapy and post-therapy peripheral blood of 49 non - small cell lung cancer patients, 10 healthy controls and 10 benign bellows diseases patients. The non - small cell lung cancer patients had been supervised peripheral blood CEAmRNA before and after therapy but the healthy volunteers examined only one time.Results (1). There were no peripheral blood CEAmRNA expression in 10 cases healthy volunteers and 10 cases benign bellows diseases patients but non-small cell lung cancer patients had positive rate was 77.6%. CEAmRNA expression was showed in 5 cases non - small cell lung cancer tissues. (2). The expression rate of CEAmRNA was 42.9% (3/7) , 71.4% (5/7) 83.3 % (15/18) 88.2% (15/17) in peripheral blood with non - small cell lung cancer of TNM stage I, II, III, IV respectively. The positive rate increased with the disease evolving. The positive expression rate was statistically significant between I , II stage and III,IV stage(x~2=4.689, P<0.05; t=-2.296, P=0.026). (3) The numerical value of peripheral blood CEAmRNA of the operating patients before and after operation was changed (t=2.267, P=0.033), the expression of CEAmRNA was decline after operation.
