Study On Apoptosis-inducing Effect Of Solanum Lyratum Thunb Water Extract And Its Molecular Mechanism On Human Gastric Cancer SGC-7901 Cells

Obsjective:In traditional Chinese medicine, a sort of medicinal herb— Solanum Lyratum Thunb (SLT) has more than two thousand years' history by way of druggery , pharmaceutical product extracted from its entire plants and roots has the effect of heat-clearing and eliminating wind and damp, detoxicating, promoting blood circulation and anti-cancers. Often people use it for the treatment of various kinds of cancer, such as gastric cancer, lung cancer, liver carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma, cervical carcinoma, brain cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma and so on. So far it is not fully clear of the action mechanisms and active components of this type of Chinese herbal medicine. There is little reference about its effect on apoptosis-inducing and proliferation inhibition of tumor cell,moreover, as a single medicine, there is no reference about its effect on apoptosis-inducing of human gastric cancer cells. In this study we investigated the effect of Solanum Lyratum Thunb water extract on apoptosis-inducing and proliferation inhibition of human gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells, and its molecular mechanism, the result can be used to establish the experimental basis for its clinical application.
