| Objective: It has been definited that Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) is an independent risk factor of cardiovascular disease. Recent researches show that the generation and development of artherosclerosis (AS) and coronary artery disease(CHD) is inseparably related to the rise in hyperhomocysteic acid(HHCY).Hyperhomocysteic possibly is a independent risk factor causes cardiovascular disease .We found some common physiological and pathological mechanisms about the damages on cardiovascular system(CVS) caused by HCY and OSAS through the literatures of the basic researches on OSAS and HCY over recent years. For example, both OSAS and HHCY can induce the damage of the function of blood vessel endothelium (BVE) and increase the oxygen load of vascular; the peroxidate piles up possibly reduces the activity of nitrogen monoxidum, which has produced nitrogen peroxide; both of them may elevate blood viscosity, haematocrit, and the level of thrombinogen I and cause the augmentation of platelet aggregation which induce hypercoagulabale state, thrombogenesis and the development of the atherosclerotic. Based on common physiological and pathological mechanisms, it has a very great possibility of the existence of the correlation between Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome(OSAS) and Homocysteic Acid in Blood Plasma. The aim of this research is to probe into whether the HCY of the OSAS patients has been changed and any influence on them via the CPAP treatment. Methods: Random select 81 diagnosed inpatients of in the period of June, 2005 to December, 2006 in the snoring sickness diagnosis center of stomatology hospital of Dalian and 120 healthy volunteers in out-patiantclinic department of NO2 people hospital of Dalian. Measure the clinical data of experimental subjects by digital multiplying channel somnus monitoring system ,and divide the people into the OSSA group and the control group based on the clinical data. Detect the level of homocysteic acid, blood urea nitrogen (BUN),creatinine (Cr) and fasting plasma glucose in the condition of empty stomach early in the morning and statistically analyse the data of the two groups. Repeat the level of HCY empty stomach test early in the morning after seven days of the treatment of continuous positive-pressure ventilation at night and comparative analyse the data of the level of HCY before and after the CPAP treatment. Results: In this study, the OSAS group has a marked increase in HCY(p<0.01) compare to the control group .It has statistical significance. HCY decreased after the treatment of CPAP (p<0.05). There is no marked differences in Age,Sex,BMI,FPG,BUN,Cr between the two groups(p>0.05).Conclusion : Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) does have correlation with Hyperhomocysteic Acid (HHCY) in Blood Plasma. The efficacy of CPAP therapy for decreasing the level of HCY is affirmed. |
