ObjectiveLamotrigine is a kind of new antiepileptic drugs. Some researches show that it seems safe to take LTG during pegnancy ,while continued prospective reseaches with large scale are needed to confirm it. To clarify this issue, the present study employed meta analytic principles in a quantitative review of the literature.MethodsCollect all studies that have been published in the world with regard to malformation on LTG monotherapy during pregnancy .Choose proper ones consistent with design and method requests.Calculate the odds ratio(OR) for malformation between the LTG monotherapy and general population ,and evaluate it with the RevMan4.1 software.Results5 studies was identified with total 2775 cases . The number on LTG monotherapy is 1055,with 26 in malformation. The number in general poputation is 1720,with 42 in malformation. The pooled OR was 0.98, with a 95 % confidence interval(0.59-1.62) .ConclusionThere is no significant differences between malformation rate on LTG monotherapy and general population.
