Objective: To analyze the image features of lung echinococcosis and to evaluate liposome-entraped albendazole chemotherapy with imaging methods. Methods: 18 patients with lung echinococcosis who take orally liposome-entrapped albendazole10mg/kg, Bid, ranged 3 to 12 month, were followed-up by x-ray film, CT and MR before and after taking liposome-entrapped albendazole. The imaging changes of the lesions were observed. Correlated laboratory examinations and clinic check- up were performed at same time. We judge the changes of lesions and defined them as cured, effective, partly effective and unchangeable. Results: The imaging changes including: (1)Cavity sign appeared in 7 cases due to lung hydited cysts denaturalization and cyst liquid absorption. (2)The volume of lesions decreased in 12 cases. (3)Cyst degeneration changes such as higher density, unclearly walls of cysts in 10 cases. (4)The number of lesions decreased and vanished in 2 cases. (5)Cyst shrink, inter-membrane detached or collapsed and cyst ruptured in 5 cases. (6)Calcification revealed within the borders and the inner contents of lesions in 6 cases. Conclusions: It was clear that liposome-entraped albendazole chemotherapy has curative effect for lung echinococcosis, with lower side-effects. liposome-entraped albendazole chemotherapy...
