OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to use high-resolution ultrasonography to evaluate clinical prediction valuation of carotid atherosclerosis coronary atherosclerosis and to analyse the influence of vascular risk factors on carotid artery atherosclerosis.METHODS: Carotid ultrasound was performed in 62 patients who had been consecutively examined by coronary angiography. Crouse's carotid plaque score was calculated to quantify the extent of carotid atherosclerosis. Meanwhile,we collected risk factors as glucose, plasma total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein and high density lipoprotein level and defined as carotid atherosclerosis.Multivariate analysis was performed to evaluate the relationship between risk factors and carotid atherosclerosis.RESULTS: 1 .There was statistical differences between the CAG nomal guoup and abnomal group on carotid plague area, score, number and IMT(p < 0.05). The more serious the coronary artery disease, the thicker maximum intima-media thickness and the more plague number, score, area in carotid artery were. Carotid atherosclerosis detected coronary artery disease with a sensitivity, specificity and accuracy value of 82.4% (42/51) , 72.7% (8/11) , 82.3%, respectively.2. Logistic models indicated that age, blood pressure, blood glucose,TG and HPL-ch were strong and significant variables .
