ObjectiveTO detect the changes of serum sVCAM-1 and the expressions of VCAM-1 in utero-placental bed in pre-clampsia(PE), And to investigate the relationship between VCAM-1 and the mechanism of PE.Method(1) ELISA was used to determine the sVCAM-1 serum levels of 32 women with PE (including 15 mild pree-clampsia women and 17 severe pre-clampsia women) and 18 normal pregnant women. (2) The expressions of VCAM-1 in chronics syneytiotrophoblast and chronics micrangium endothelial cell of utero-placental bed in 32 PE and 18 normal pregnant women were evaluated by immunohistochemistry.Result(1) Serum concentration of sVCAM-1 in SP groups was higher than those is in MP groups and normal groups, there were significant differences (P<0.05, P<0.01) between SP and MP, these differences also exited in SP and normal pregnant groups, and there were also significant differences (P<0.05) between MP and normal pregnant groups. (2) The expression of VCAM-1 in chronics syneytiotrophoblast of utero-placental bed in SP groups was significantly lower than that in MP groups (P<0.05, P<0.01) and in normal pregnant groups (P<0.01, P<0.01), there were also significant differences (P<0.05, P<0.05) between MP and normal pregnant groups. (3) The expression of VCAM-1 in chronics micrangium endothelial cell of utero-placental bed in SP groups was significantly higher than that is in MP groups (P<0.05, P<0.05) and normal pregnant groups (P<0.01, P<0.01), there were also significant differences (P<0.05, P<0.05) between MP andnormal pregnant groups. (4) There were significant positive correlations among VCAM-1, diastolic blood pressure and blood uric acid.Conclusions(1) Serum levels of sVCAM-1 were higher in SP groups, and the expression of VCAM-1 in chronics micrangium endothelial cell of utero-placental bed in SP groups were also higher, moreover, the expression in chronics syneytiotrophoblast of utero-placental bed in SP groups was lower, VCAM-1 may play a role in the pathogenesis of PE. (2) There were significant positively correlations among VCAM-1, diastolic blood pressure and blood uric acid. VCAM-1 was useful in reflected the disease evolution in PE.
