Objectives: To investigate the relationship between maternal serum andumbilical vein blood concentration of vascular endothelial growth factor andnitric oxide and fetal growth restriction by detecting maternal serum andumbilical vein blood concentration of the two factors in fetal growthrestriction. Methods: Twenty-two normal late pregnant women,twenty-two mothers ofFGR,twenty-two normal infants and twenty-two fetal growth restriction werestudied. The expression level of VEGF and NO in maternal serum and umbilicalvein blood were determined by ELASA and the method of nicotinamide adeninedinucleotide phosphoric hydrogenate (NADPH) .Analysis these data with SPSS11.5.Results: (1) The level of VEGF in vein blood of normal late pregnant womenwas (75.55±13.87)μg/L, the level of VEGF in maternal serum of fetal growthrestriction was ( 41.44±ll. 52 )μg/L, the two groups had statisticssignificances deviation (P<0.001) . (2) The level of VEGF in umbilical veinblood of normal fetals was(105.43±28.01)μg/L, the level of VEGF in umbilicalvein blood of fetal growth restriction was (74.31±15.03)μg/L, the twogroups had statistics significances deviation (P<0.001) . (3) The level ofNO in vein blood of normal late pregnant women was (33.73±9.57)μmol/L, the level of NO in maternal serum of fetal growth restriction was( 13.48±5.46)μmol/L,the two groups had statistics significances deviation(P<0.05) . (4) The level of NO in umbilical vein blood of normal fetals was(38.36±10.11)μmol/L, the level of NO in umbilical vein blood of fetal growthrestriction was (16.86±4.71)μmol/L, the two groups had statisticssignificances deviation (P<0.05) . (5) Compared groups and studied groupsVEGF,NO levels of umbilical vein blood were higher than that of maternal serumin both groups (P< 0.05, P<0.05, P<0.05, P<0.05) ; There were correlationsabout VEGF,NO concentrations between the compared group and the studied group(r=0.516, r=0.481, r=0.394, r=0.447) . (6) There were positive correlationsbetween VEGF,NO concentrations and the weight of newbones in the comparedgroup and the studied group.Conclution: It showed that the significant reduced levels of VEGF,NO hadimportant actions in fetal growth restriction. The two can be the new indexof anticipating fetal growth restriction. Adding the capability which aresynthesied and released of VEGF,NO, may be a new route of preventing andtheraping fetal growth restriction.
