Objective: Use animal models of acute myocardial infarction(AMI)to determine plasma concentrations of heart-type fatty acid-bindingprotein(H-FABP) before and afer AMI, compared with the concentrationsof cardiac troponin I(crnI) and creatine kinase-MB(CK-MB),to discussthe role of H-FABP in early AMI, aim to find a more ideal biochemicalmarker of AMI.Methods: 24 New-zealand rabbits were randomly divided into 2 groups:acute myocardial infarction group(surgery group or AMI group, n=15) andcontrol group (sham surgery group, n=9). AMI group was opened the chestsand the anterior descending branchs of the left coronary arteries(LAD)were ligated to make AMI models; In sham surgery group the sutures werepassed under the LADs without ligation and not to make AMI. Bloodsampled before surgery and 1,2,3,4,6,8,10 and 24h after surgery. H-FABP,cTnI and CK-MB were measured by ELISA respectively at the same time. Wecompared H-FABP with cTnI and CK-MB in two groups. Results: 20 New-zealand rabbits lived, 4 died. There are 12 New-zealandrabbits in AMI group and 8 in control group. The plasma concentrations ofH-FABP 1 hour after surgery showed statistical difference between AMIgroup and sham surgerygroup(P<0.05); The plasma concentrations ofcTnI2 hours after surgery showed statistical difference between AMI groupand sham surgery group(P<0.05); The plasma concentrations of CK-MB 4hours after surgery showed statistical difference between AMI groupand sham surgery grouD(P<0.05).The mean increased time of H-FABP was 1.4h, which was faster than cTnI(2.6h) and CK-MB(4.0h)(P<0.05). The peaktime of H-FABP in AMI group was 6.8h, H-FABP recovered in two groups at24h after the surgeries. The peak time of cTnI in AMI group was 7.5h, thepeak time of CK-MB in AMI group was more than 1Oh from the onset of surgery, crnI and CK-MB all not recoverd to normal in 24h.Conclusion: H-FABP increased before crnI and CK-MB in AMI, and recoveredbefore crnI and CK-MB, it satisfied the six criteria of which specificbiochemical markers of AMI should have, was a valuable biochemical markerfor the early detection of AMI.
