Aims: Recurrent respiratory tract infection(RRTI) is one of the most common diseases of children, and has the characteristic of recurrent and chronic course. It has severe effect to children's development. The main causes is the immunodeficiency and absence of nutrient acording to the modern medicine, so immunomodulator and nutrition replenishment is common therapy methods. Based on the characteristics of physiology and pathology, Chinese medicine has made great progress in etiology and mechanism, prevention and therapy. In syndrome differ classification, they have different opinion because of the difference of region. There are lack of big-sample investigation at present. Acording to the literature reports and the prior research the tutor, combined the geographical characteristic of Taibei area and children' s own physiology of defficiency of FEI PI and SHEN, we select the syndrome types of defficiency of FEI PI and SHEN as the main syndrome types. Taibei area is located on the bilateral of the North Tropic, near the area South of the Five Ridges. The climate belongs to the semitropics climate. So we select the syndrome with humidity, stagment, heat, phlegm as the acompanying syndromes. Through the observation of the 204 RRTI children of in non-acute periods, to study the distribution characteristic of the Chinese Medicine syndrome's Differentiation. It will give the evidence and benefit to the diagnosis and treatment of RRTI. Methods:1. Toinduce the RRTI's pathogenic factors through the literature retrieval.2. Establish the forms including the index of cases's name, age, date, gender, history, living address, guardian, telephone, the criterion of adoption and elimination and the Syndrome Differentiation Standards of Chinese Medicine.3. Training the investigators(must has Chinese medical qualification) including study and grasp the criterions of adoption , elimination, and Syndrome Differentiation.4. Fill the forms rightly by the relationships and confirmed by the doctors. Results:In the Taibei area, most children have syndrome of difficiency, among those, 83 cases(40.69%)re belong to Lung-Qi Deficiency Syndrome, 31 cases(15.20%) belong to Lung-Qi and Yin Deficiency Syndrome, 28 cases(13.73%) belong to Spleen-Qi Deficiency Syndrome. Some cases have the acompanying syndromes. Acompany with heat are 59cases(74.68%),with phlegm are 60 (75.95%)cases among the acompanying syndromes's children.Conclusions:1. The characteristic of the Chinese Medicine Syndromes is the Lung-Qi Deficiency Syndrome occupy the most porperation, then the Lung-Qi and Yin Deficiency Syndrome and Spleen- Qi Deficiency Syndrome in Taibei area of RRTI children.2. The mainly acompanying syndromes is acompany with heat and phlegm.3. The characteristic of the Chinese Medicine Syndromes properly related with the Taibei area's geography and climate, also concluds the living habits and abusing of antibiotics. These give a further evidence of the Professor Li Yirui's opinion that RRTI's Chinese Medicine Syndromes have the geographic features. These suit to the theory of "Corresponding of Human and Nature"in Chinese Medicine.
