Objective Investigate the expression of E-cadherin(E-cad) and Cycloxygenase2(COX-2) in the prostatic carcinoma(Pca). Analysis the expression result with the pathologic grading of cancer, clinical stages and the relationship between the two factors. Methods 32 paraffin sections of prostatic carcinoma patients and 24 paraffin sections of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) patients had been chosen. Useing immunohistochemistry SABC method to detect the the expression of E-cadherin and Cycloxygenase2 in all sections of prostatic. Results There were no differences between the groups with respect to age, volume of the prostate. The E-cad expression rates in Pca group is 21.88%(7 paraffin sections), in BPH group is 91.67%(22 paraffin sections). The COX-2 expression rates in Pca group is 90.63%(29 paraffin sections), in BPH group is 37.50%(9 paraffin sections). The E-cad expression rates in the clinical stage A and B Pca paraffin sections is obviously higher than stage C and D. Contrarily the COX-2 expression rates in the clinical stage A and B Pca paraffin sections is obviously lower than stage C and D.Conclusions The E-cad expression rates in Pca group is lower than BPH group and The COX-2 expression rates in Pca group is higher than BPH group. The expression rates of E-cad and COX-2 in Pca paraffin sections correlate with the pathologic grading of cancer and clinical stages. The two factors may have some relationship in the generation development and metastasis of the Pca.
