The Effects Of Lixin â…  On Cardiac Founction And Soluble Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 In Patients With Congestive Heart Failure

Objective: To investigate the effects of Lixin I on plasma levels of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) and 6 minutes walk test(6MWT) and so on in patients with congestive heart failure (CHF).Methods: Forty cases were randomly devided into treatment group and control group. Patients in the control group were treated by west medicine, while patients in the treatment group were treated by Lixin I 150ml every time twice every day on the basis of conventional treatment. The levels of sICAM-1 were measured in the two groups of patients'blood by enzyme-linked immuneos-orbent assay(ELISA). According to the method in the Vera Bitt-ner's report, the changes were observed by 6MWT before and after treatment. At the same time, the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF),fraction shortening(FS) and the ratio of wave E to wave A (E/A) were measured by M-Mode Color Doppler E-chocardiogram. The curative effects on CHF in Lixin I were also observed.Results: The plasma levels of sICAM-1 significantly increase-d in patients with CHF (P> 0.05),which decreased after the treatment in both treatment group and control group(P< 0.01). Compared with those in the control group,the sICAM-1 levels in the treatment group were significantly lower(P< 0.05). The index of patients' cardiac function such as the distance of 6MWT, LVEF, FS and E/A had improved greatly(P< 0.01). Compared with those in the control group, the treatment were better(P< 0.05). The treatment group outweighed the control group in the aspect of clinical evolution(P<0.05). Conclusions:1. The plasma levels of sICAM-1 significantly increased in patients with CHF,which were the same as the literature had been reported.2. Lixin I could decrease sICAM-1's levels and improve the disturbance of cytokines network in CHF.This may be the immune mechanism of Lixin I in treatment of CHF.3.Every index of cardiac function in patients of CHF was ameliorated significantly by using Lixin I , which demonstrated the prescription possessed the better effect on improving the cardiac function.4. Lixin I is an effective prescription, depending on the basic law which is tonifying pneuma, warming Yang, promoting blood flow and using diuretic of gydragogue to alleviate water retention.
