| Objective: To observe the clinical effects of Bo' s abdominal acupuncture to lumbar disc herniation.Method: 60 patients with lumbar disc herniation were randomly assigned to a treatment group (30 cases) treated by abdominal acupuncture and a control group (30 cases) treated by traditional acupuncture strictly according to the adoption standard and the elimination standard. Main acupoints of abdominal needle group were Shuifen(Ren 9), Qiihai(Ren 6), Guanyuan(Ren 4). Bilateral Qixue (K. 3). Qipang, as well as Wailing (St. 26), low rheumatoid point, Under low rheumatoid point of the affected side, were added to patients with sciatica. Main acupoints of the control group were Shenshu (U. B. 23), Qihaishu(U. B. 24), Zhibian(U. B. 54), Huantiao(G. B. 30)and Ahi points. If the pain radiated along the route of Urinary Bladder Channel of Foot-Taiyang, Yinmen(U. B. 37), Weizhong(U. B. 40), Chengshan(U. B. 57) were added. If the pain radiated along the route of Gall bladder Channel of Foot-Shaoyang, Yanglingquan(G. B. 34), Yangjiao(G. B. 35), Juegu(G. B. 39) were added. Treatments were given once a day. There were 10 treatments for two weeks in total. After treatment, clinical efficacy standards set by "diagnostic efficacy standards for diseases in Traditional Chinese Medicine" of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine was used for clinical efficacy evaluation; Fairbank JC' s "lumbago condition score form" and McGILL' s Pain Questionnaire (MPQ) were used for quantitative evaluation. Result: Scoring of lumbago condition "MPQ" Guide lines immediately after treatment and 3 months later for abdominal needle group and control group, compared with those before treatment, was obviously improved(P<0.01), but no difference was shown between groups. For clinical effects of the abdominal needle group, 20 patients were cured. Treatments were effective in 8 cases and ineffective in 2 cases. The cure rate was 66.7% and effective rate was 93.3%. In the control group, 12 patients were cured. Treatments were effective in 16 cases and ineffective in 2 cases. The cure rate was 40% and effective rate was 93.3%. Cure rate of abdominal needle group was better than that of the control group.Conclusion: The two treatments for lumbar disc herniation have both achieved good clinical efficacy, and were able to relieve lumbago and pain of patients, however, clinical cure rate of abdominal acupuncture therapy was higher than that of traditional acupuncture therapy. |
